Sloppy Joes

Sloppy Joes:

1 lb. ground beef
1 cup minced real onion
1 tablespoon brown sugar
2 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
1 tablesoon shortening
1 cup green pepper, finely chopped
2 tablespoons prepared mustard
1 cup catsup or chili sauce
1 tablespoon vinegar

Brown meat slowly until meat is crumbly, but, soft. Drain grease off. Combine remaining ingredients with meat. Cover skillet and simmer slowly for 35 or 30 minutes. Makes 4-5 cups of filling. Serve on sandwich buns. You can melt slices of cheese on top of mixture too if you want.

I MADE THIS AND IT WAS DELICIOUS, I DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH KETCHUP SO OPENED A MED. SIZE CAN OF TOMATO SAUCE AND USED A LITTLE EXTRA BROWN SUGAR, ADDED A FEW DASHES OF "TEXAS PETE" HOT SAUCE (OMITTING THE VINEGAR AS HOT SAUCE HAS THE VINEGAR) AND OH BOY WERE THESE TASTY! BETTER THAN MANWICH ANY DAY OF THE YEAR!:)
