What Do You Collect?

I collect dust. I have quite the accumulation too. :p I'd be happy to share if anyone else needs to start a collection like mine. :D

We can share. I am actually off today since it is a holiday and I plan on dusting. My entertainment center is disgusting.

However, I collect Precious Moments. I have lots of figurines and dolls. My daughters love them as well so I am planning on passing them down to them when they are older.

Dogs, apparently. ;) We have three.

Oh, it's my collection too. I have three dogs! :) We also have a family dog. So all in all, we have 4 dogs at home.

Seriously, I collect DVDs, airsoft guns, refrigerator magnets (from places I've been too) and autographs from celebrities.

Reviving this thread.....
I collect Angels and Chickens and Christmas Ornaments....My daughter collects Porcelain Dolls and has some beautiful ones.
I was reading some of the posts about collecting Dust....lol...I live on a gravel road so I have plenty for you to collect !

Other than 8 years worth of cooking magazines I collect jewelry. I love anything SPARKLY! I love it when the crow in the secret of Nymn says "I've always wanted a sparkly of my very own" I quote him often.

Jfain,

I too adore jewelry! My latest additions were a beautiful pink tourmaline & diamond ring and a tanzanite & diamond ring. My favorite are colored stones of all varieties! What is your birthstone? Mine is the yellow topaz or citrine. I also love rubies, emeralds, and pearls, peridots and green tourmaline as well as a few others!

Wow. Good question, but I've got a whacko-lengthy list!
Cookbooks
First-Edition Nancy Drew & Hardy Boys Mysteries
Moutache Mugs
Jade, whalebone & ivory sculpture
and many other things, too...

I collect teddy bears. I have so many I have a storage building rented for them. Most are Disney's Pooh Bear. I collect Disney mugs and I have about 25 Disney coats and jackets. I collect cookbooks but I only have about 75 so far.

I have a pink tourmaline ring too but I didn't go for tanzanite because I have a big iolite ring and they look very similar. I love all stones I'm no snob. From snowflake obsidian to, botswana agate to opals, pearls and rubies they all have their own unique properties. I have a fire agate necklace which just mezerizes me. I also like BIG stones. I'm not interested in any 1 carat chips unless it is my birthstone which is diamond.

I also collect Merano glass vases. I would love, love to get a hold of a Chahouli but we aren't that rich unfortunately so I just have to go to the Columbus conservatory and drool on them. My friend said at her husbands christmas party they had a raffle for a Chahouli vase. I would have bought every ticket.

How neat!!! I too love the hand blown glass vases. Unfortunately when I moved and down-sized I had to sell my collection:( But the really neat thing is a neighbor of mine has a wonderful collection, and as she has it displayed in the windows of her sun porch I get to drool over it as I walk by! She has such a varied collection, it includes row upon row of everything imagineable! I could def. see how you would have bought every ticket to have won the vase:)

And I adore fire opals! About a year ago I purchased an orange sapphire set and love it, it reminds me alot of the fire opal!

Did you mean ..'Chihuly "...jfain ? Have you looked on ebay ? I have seen some on there. I love Blown glass too....but most of it is too expensive for me..

Yes I looked up the spelling on Google and they gave me Chahouli but It could be Chihuly.

Are your Australian or Mexican fire opals. I really like the Mexican ones. I have a ring and earings. The Australian fire opals are beautiful but they don't have any flash. The Mexican opals have a flash that looks like a bowl full of salsa, red, green and yellow in a translucent bright orange stone.

Mexican all the way! I have never seen Aussie fire opal.

Have you an Amatrine? I have one that is in a pendant, it is so pretty. I love all the multi-colored stones as well....Watermelon tourmaline is one of my favorites! Have a georgeous pair of ear-rings that I purchased in Maine, where they actually mine tourmaline.

I love Ametrine but I only have it in a loose stone. Since I have the whole necklace, earings and ring in both citrine and amethyst separately I thought I would either end up not wearing the ametrine or not wearing what I already have. Another stone I love is rutilated quartz. I have a pendant but I'd like more. If you like opal another semi-precious stone with similar rainbow flash properties is labradorite. I have a lot of and it's beautiful. Sort of moss green with big blue and lavender flashes.

I know Labrodite well it is a really terrific stone! I also love a really nice moonstone, which is somewhat similar to the labrodite.

I used to be a member of our local Gem & Mineral Society and we did many rockhouinding trips all over the US. Have you even seen Rutile crystals? They are metallic looking and the inclusions are a deep rich red color when in a good light source. I have several from a trip we made to Graves Mountain in Georgia. We hit a vein and were able to collect some georgeous specimens. I think it is so amazing what beauty lies buried in our earth's crust:) The first gemstone I ever found was a garnet, it was a pretty little crystal! And got me hooked on gem hunting. Have you ever panned for gold? Now that is FUN, but back-breaking after a full day bent over a gold pan!

:DI think the rutile crystal you are talking about is rutilated quartz. It looks like gold or copper threads running through the clear quartz I love it. I have several pieces. I'm a rock hound too though I haven't been lucky enough to go on any digging expeditions. I love rocks with interesting properties like star rubies or the gorgeous striations in malachite. I could just stare at them for hours. Today I'm wearing my chalcedony.

It is acually crystals (large ones) of rutile not the needle inclusions in quartz, really neat!!! I will look up a photo on-line so you can have a look, it is much better in real-life photos all photos make it look like hematite, which it is not. Wow I wish we lived close by one another I could show it to you. I was going to ask if you also had Malachite, Lapis Lazuli, and Pink Rhodochrisite jewely as well. I used to do wire-wrap jewelry and it was fun and I made some great pieces, have given them all away now, but I still have the ability! Have you seen wire-wrap jewelry and do you like it?

This is a very good snap-shot enlarge the image and look closely you will see the specks of red in the inclusions/or stress fractures!
