Your Christmas Menu

Well- we're just lucky she's mentally so healthy these days 'cause that wasn't always the case... I love being able to play a role and do my part... I'm also glad to have been back home in IL. from up north when it all started happening... perfect timing, really.

We'll be having a ham with sides, as well as a lasagna and I've got a hankerin for some braciola, so I think either me or the wife will make a gravy with meatballs, a nice chunk of pork, and braciola.

Our family has grown so much . Xmas is never less than 50 of us and the only one able to fit this many for a sit down dinner is I but they don`t want me doing it because i do all the other Holidays so we rented out a club room where my brother in law belongs to so we all bring in a dish or 2 and everyone gets to invite inlaws & friends & friends of friends who have no other place to go so it is more like 150 of us now and growing .

I`m thinking of making maybe 3 stuffed chickens and i`ll make some cookies I know1 of my sister is making ribs and one of my other sisters is making the mashed potatoes and salad My sister in law is frying us some peppers and bringing some cheese and prosciuto w/olives for appetizer .

Wow 150!!! That's alot of folks! My grandfather used to rent a hall and we would have our Christmas / Family Reunion dinners there. What fond memories!!! I remember a piaon and my Grandfather playing chop-sticks and all of us having one heck of a time. I hope you & yours will have some grand moments to add to your memory banks this year, Merry Christmas!

I have my brothers ham and turkey stored at my mother in laws in her freezer. My ham and turkey for my father in laws dinner is stored in his deep freezer. I have dinners stored all over the place lol. My mother in law is doing her dinner on Sat. Im making chocolate peanut butter cheesecake, yeast rolls and deviled eggs for that one. My father in law is planning his dinner for Christmas Day. For that one I am making a 15 pound ham and a 15 pound turkey. I am also making salad, sweet potatoes, gravy, cheese plate, crudite platter, deviled eggs, coleslaw, cranberry salad, cornbread dressing and oyster dressing. I am making two desserts for that one. They are chocolate loaded peanut butter brownies and cookies and cream cake.
My brother will pick up his dinner on the 23. I am making them a whole 20 pound ham on the bone, 15 pound turkey, yeast rolls, cake, dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy.
Jon and I are having our surf and turf meal on Christmas Eve. We are having seared sea scallops, grilled jumbo shrimp, steaks, salad and tiramisu.
I will spend the rest of Christmas Eve preparing the dishes for his Dads the next day. Then I'll need a 3 day nap.

I have a 16 pound turkey in the oven now and then I have a 16 pound ham to bake. I made oreo cake, red velvet cookie sandwiches, cole slaw, deviled eggs, cranberry salad, vegetable dip and a cheeseball today. I still have to make peanut butter popcorn, honey glazed sweet potatoes, cornbread dressing & oyster dressing.

My brother just came by and got his dinner.
He took a 20 pound smoked ham with brown sugar glaze, 15 pound citrus turkey, yeast rolls, dressing, gravy, cheeseball & crackers, chocolate cake & a huge tin full of assorted candy, nuts and oranges.

Did I mention that my brother in laws wife and her mother sat at the dinner table with us and her Mom told us about how they had all had swine flu about 6 weeks ago? My fil had told us they were all sick about a month ago but they didnt tell anyone it was swine flu at the time. My sis in law works at a popular restaurant here in town and worked alot while she was sick. I hate to think of the people she exposed to that.

We had friends for Christmas. There were 6 of us. My party with family was the 19th. For Christmas dinner we started with a deli tray and crudite to nibble while dinner was cooking.

Dinner was a Leg of Venison rubbed with fennel, all spice and thyme.
Port and Cranberry sauce
Cider braised apples
Gluten Free Green bean casserole from scratch
German Red cabbage

For dessert we had pecan pie with ice cream and 8 kinds of cookies all gluten free.

We ate till we almost popped, layed on the couches and watched a movie. I think everyone took a turn napping. It was a good day.

We had leftover roast beef and gravy from Christmas as well as stuffed shells and meatballs. The braciole was all gone. So I froze the shells and meatballs with some extra sauce to warm up today - typical Italian Sunday - pasta day - LOL. Just place it in the oven and heat it through. I do wish there was braciole left though! I made meatballs with the leftover braciole filling.

The leftover roast beef and gravy was for yesterday's meal with a salad and veggies.

Easy cookin' for 2 days! I'll concentrate my efforts today in making garlic bread! LOL

I almost forgot, after my yeast roll fiasco on thanksgiving, I decided I wasn't giving up without a fight. I made them for Christmas and they were the best. Thanks so much Janie for sparking my interest in them. I used your recipe and will be doing more. I'm actually going to attempt to make my own onion rolls next
