1/2 tbsp yeast
1 2/3 cups warm water
4 tsp sugar
2 tsp salt
1 stick 8 tbsps butter or margarine
4 1/4 cups unsifted Pillsbury Unbleached or King Arthur Unbleached Flour*
Preheat oven to 400 degrees
1. Dissolve yeast, sugar and salt in warm water.
2. Melt 1/3 stick of butter or margarine and add to yeast mixture.
3. Blend flour into mixture.
4. Let rise for approximately 45 - 60 mins at room temperature.
5. Melt 1/3 stick butter or margarine and pour on top of rised mixture.
6. Knead and shape into round rolls.
7. Put shapped rolls into 9" x 13" baking dish.
8. Let rise for approximately 1 hour.
9. Bake for 15 to 20 mins or until golden brown.
10. Melt 1/3 stick of butter or margarine and pour over rolls.
11. Remove from pan and serve.
* Use unbleached flour for best flavor. Unbleached flour is bright white, it's just more time consuming to make. Flour will whiten naturally after milling. Since the natural whitening takes time (about 6 months), many producers speed up the process using chemicals. That process and chemical addition can alter the taste of foods made from bleached flour.
