Double Whole Wheat Bread Ingredients
- 4 1/2 tsp dry yeast
- 1 cup warm water
- 1/2 cup honey
- 2 cups milk
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 1/2 tbsp salt
- 5 cups whole wheat flour
- 1/4 cup wheat germ
- 3 cups all purpose flour
To make Double Whole Wheat Bread
- Dissolve yeast in water. Let stand abount 10 - 15 minutes until bubbly.
- Combine milk, honey, margarine and salt in a saucepan.
- Heat until butter melts. Cool to lukewarm. Stir in yeast mixture.
- Stir in wheat flour and wheat germ.
- Knead adding additional flour as needed. Knead 5 to 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough into a greased bowl and cover.
- Let rise until doubled in size. Punch down.
- Turn out on counter, cover with bowl 5 minutes.
- Make into 3 loaves rolling each thin with the rolling pin, then rolling up tightly.
- Place in greased 9x5 pans.
- Let rise until doubled in bulk.
- Bake at 350° F. for 35 minutes.
- Brush with butter.
