To make Down South Bread Pudding
- In 1/2 quart bowl whisk eggs and half and half until blended.
- Stir in raisins, sugar, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla.
- Place bread cubes in buttered baking dish. Pour egg mixture over and bake at 350° F until high and lightly browned.
Serve with Whiskey Sauce (recipe follows).
Whiskey Sauce
- 1 tsp cornstarch
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup half and half
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1/4 cup bourbon whiskey
To make Whiskey Sauce
- Whisk together the cornstarch, sugar, half and half.
- Add butter.
- Microwave on high 6 to 8 minutes, stirring every 2 minutes until thickened and smooth.
- Stir in bourbon whiskey.
- Serve warm over bread pudding.
