I was just joshin' you about Giada, KYH... I know you don't value her much! (my sister turns the tv OFF these days when she catches her hubby watching Giada... She explains that one time halfway thru the show she had been trying to keep track of a list of ingredients Giada was reciting, and she turned to Mark- who's eyes were totally zeroed-in to the screen- and she asked, "what were those last 2 ingredients, hon?" and Mark wiped a bit of slobber from the corner of his mouth and replied "uh- I believe she said '2 large juicy grapefruits' darling..." at that moment sis snapped-up the remote and she claims Mark ain't been allowed to view an episode since!

Me? I like the atmoshere of Giada's show- I like the kitchen and the strange calming method of filming, multiple/moving camera angles and such. I don't know enough about filming or photography to know what the technique is called, but it's different from most cooking-demo shows... Do u get what I mean?

Southern cooks? I think my fav would have to be first my Mom in her early years (she don't cook these days) then the masterful gracious Miss Edna Lewis. I just loved her...

Micahel's show is just way cool. I like his kitchen. I like his demeanor and his approach- he really reaches me. I kinda consider him the "guy-Ina". He cooks things I myself would actually enjoy making and eating. I don't find a thing abbrasive about him- and many guy chefs, I do. Odd, I know, but I tend to prefer the women cooks for whatever reason.

And the Deen Brothers? Lord-a-mighty! I can't think about them right now- I just showered and I don't want to SWEAT! The only way they could look better would be sitting on a picnic-table bench w/ ME in between them! Hee-Hee!

My husband cannot see but if he could Im sure he would appreciate Giada's grapefruits lol.
We have a friend who watches Sandra Lee and I go I didnt know you like to watch her cook and he says..you means she cooks??

Im with you I like Paula Deen and her sons have some good cookbooks.
Paula Deen cooks alot like people around here always have. You just have to save the her dessert recipes for special occasions.
Road Tasted is not my favorite show. Together there is something about her sons that gets on my last nerve.

I've honestly never watched their show but I have seen them on Paula's program from time to time. I think they're adorable, but perhaps in larger doses they have a larger, harder-to-take presence... perhaps like their mama! I like Paula, but I totally "get" what it is about here that critics do not like. She definitely has a presence!

They just keep calling each other brother again and again on their show. Alright already we know your brothers. After the first dozen times it gets old.

I like shows where they make recipes you can follow and make if you want. Road Tasted is not like that. I have the "brothers" cookbook where they give their versions of the recipes featured on their show. It is a good book. I have all of Paula Deen's cookbooks. I always make a couple of her desserts for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Do you have the little book she did... I think its called Paula Deen's Christmas? Its loaded with fabalous recipes.

The Food Network is getting more and more away from instructional shows. Saturday before 2pm is the best time to watch that channel.

I have ordered the Deen brothers' "Ya'll Come Eat Cookbook"... not sure what to expect- hope it's a good one!

I have a hardcover book of Paula's that I believe is a compilation of 2 or 3 previously-published small spiral-bound books.

I ordered her little Christmas book and when I discovered how teensy-weensy it was I gave it away as a stocking-stuffer... I did however look thru it first and jotted down some recipes from it first... I made her UNBELIEVABLE recipe for "Velveeta Fudge". I was SHOCKED, it was delicious, rich and oh-so-chocolatey-good!
