You know I just bet the apples provide moisture and subtle flavor as the turkey bakes! I have stuffed celery, onion and such in the cavity of chicken when I baked it so I think that apples would be good! Ya' know you sound like you try very hard to cook good meals!
I hope you & yours have a very Happy & Hearty Thanksgiving!

Cathy, I've only stuffed my bird once. It was the first time I ever made Thanksgiving dinner and I roasted the stuffed bird, only to find afterward that I had left the bag of "things" inside the bird. It was a paper bag but still, it was kinda gross. Ever since then, I have baked my stuffing in a big pan and stuffed my bird with apples, which we don't eat. Actually, I don't even know why I do this! Someone told me to do it years ago and here I am still doing it with no earthly idea why.

Ha! What a horrible and funny 1st time experience...LOL! That will teach you a lesson or two, no? :-p My 1st time experience this year should be fun since it will be with my sister working on 1 turkey, and we'll be able to coach one another. LOL! It's only 2 hours to cook anyway, so I'm sure an hour a piece between two people will work out nicely. :-)

Thanksgiving was great! The 2-hour turkey worked out nicely. It was nice to rely on something to cook so fast while we spent more time on other dishes that needed it. Believe it or not, we went thru 2 turkeys and 2 hams with very little left overs! We actually had to hide some turkey so we could have left overs for ourselves!

Hope everyone's T-day was great as well. :-)
