When I Googled it most sites said the word means a stew of marinated rabbit meat. I knew you were joking and so was I. :)

There are many many people around here who raise rabbits just for human or reptile food or to sell to people for training hunting dogs. One of Jon's friends stopped by here when he had been cleaning rabbits all day long he had raised to put in the freezer. He must have had the smell on him or something because it totally freaked Baron out. He wouldnt eat and trembled for a whole day after the guy left. Mostly rabbits raised for food are the bigger breeds with more meat on them like New Zealands or Standard Rex.

The breeds like I want as pets are not normally on the menu unless they have the misfortune of ending up with a reptile owner. English Angoras are raised by most people for their wool which is harvested by haircuts. Rabbits are just like any other animal. Some of them are smart and there is nobody home with some.
When I met the breeder who sold me Baron she brought a litter of 8 for me to choose from. She was a critical care nurse and had the most gentle air about her. Breeding bunnies was her hobby and she harvested their wool that she spun herself. Her bunnies really reflected the care she gave them.
I held the bunnies she brought and Baron was the only one who met my gaze and you could just tell he was thinking. He came home with me and the first thing he did was chase the dog away from me. He used the litterbox like cat and never chewed up anything. I never had him neutered and he never sprayed anything. I got really lucky and made a great choice with him. I still have his pedigree and his pic hangs over my desk.
I am hoping to have the same luck with the new one.

Janie,

I have a gay friend who is really "foo-foo". He has a pair of tiny little Yorkies (also very foo-foo!) He named them Spike and Goliath!

Jon suggested Spike which I like. How about Casper since he is white?

I like all the names you've mentioned so far, Janie. I think you're doing the right thing by gathering-up as many names as you can before-hand. Maybe once you hold him in your own huggable arms he'll give you a glance and his name will just speak it's voice to ya and make itself known!

BTW- when I mentioned to Layne that you were looking for a name for a bunny he asked: "How about 'Fluffy'?". When I replied that I think you were looking for something more original he modified his idea and then said "Well then how about 'Fluffy-Poo'?" Kids! Ya gotta love them! :)
