1 pkg German sweet chocolate
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1 2/3 cups evaporated milk
1 1/2 cups sugar
3 tbsps cornstarch
1/8 tsp salt
2 eggs
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
1 9 inch unbaked pie shell
1 1/3 cups coconut
1/2 cup chopped pecans
Preheat oven to 375 degrees
1. Melt chocolate with butter over low heat. Stir until blended.
2. Remove from heat, gradually blend in milk.
3. Mix sugar, salt and cornstarch.
4. Beat in eggs and vanilla.
5. Gradually blend in chocolate mixture.
6. Pour into unbaked pie shell.
7. Combine coconut and nuts; sprinkle over pie filling.
8. Bake for 45 - 50 mins or until fluffy and brown.
If pie browns too quickly, cover with foil loosely the last 15 mins of baking.
Filling will be soft but will set when cooled.
Cool at least 4 hours before cutting.
