Glogg is a traditional Christmas drink to Skoal with. Be temperate. It's potency sneaks up on you. Glogg gets better if aged one year but is OK to drink as soon as made.
- 3 dozen blanched almonds
- 6 sticks cinnamon
- 1 dozen cardamom seeds, crushed
- 2 cups raisins
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 4 qts dark port wine
- 1 qt sherry wine
- 1 qt aquavit
- In a large pot, simmer spices in 1/4 cup of water for 15 minutes. Add port and sherry, bringing to a boil but do not boil.
- Add raisins, sugar, aquavit and simmer for 1/2 hour.
- Let mixture cool down and then bottle, distributing raisins, almonds, arid spices among bottles.
To serve: Warm Glogg until hot and serve with some of the raisins and almonds in each glass.
