Honey Whole Wheat Bread Ingredients
- 5 1/2 cups lukewarm water
- 1 1/4 cups honey
- 2 tsp salt
- 6 tbsp butter
- 5 tsp dry yeast
- 7 cups whole wheat flour
- 7 cups white flour
To make Honey Whole Wheat Bread
- Add the honey, salt and shortening to 5 cups water. Heat until the shortening melts. Cool to lukewarm.
- Dissolve the yeast in 1/2 cup lukewarm water.
- Put the whole wheat flour in a large bowl. Add the water mixture and yeast mixture. Stir in white flour.
- Knead with hands adding flour as needed.
- Knead 5 to 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place in greased bowl and cover. Let rise until doubled in size.
- Punch down. Turn out on counter, cover 5 to 10 minutes. Make into 4 or 5 loaves.
- Place in greased 9x5" bread pans.
- Cover, let rise until doubled in size.
- Bake Honey Wheat Bread for 35 to 45 minutes in 350° F. oven.
