- 4 cups lima beans (preferably fresh but frozen are fine)
- 2 tbsps butter or margarine
- sugar to taste
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 tsps cornstarch
- 1/2 cup milk
- salt and pepper to taste
- Cook lima beans in water to almost cover, adding as necessary, until tender; drain.
- Add 1/2 cup milk, butter, salt and sugar.
- Cook down.
- Meanwhile, mix cornstarch with 1/2 cup milk.
- Gradually stir cornstarch mixture into beans until desired consistency is acquired.
- Add salt and pepper to taste.
