McCormick Ground Roasted Cumin Seed is sometimes called Comino and is a seed recorded in ancient history. Cumin is the dried seed of the herb Cuminum cyminum, a member of the parsley family. The yellowish-brown seeds resemble caraway.

Cumin is characterized by a strong, musty/earthy flavor that also contains some green/grassy notes. Its flavor and aroma are strong and slightly bitter.  The classic flavor of this spice flavors chili, other Mexican dishes and is widely used in Indian cuisines.
