Cocoa Syrup
1 cup cocoa
1 1/2 cups cold water
2 1/2 cups boiling water
2/ 3/4 cups sugar
pinch of salt
1 tsp pure extract vanilla
double strength coffee
glass of milk
- Make a syrup of cocoa and cold water (mix to paste consistency)
- Add boiling water, sugar and pinch of salt.
- Simmer slowly for 1 hr, stirring to prevent scorching.
- When cold, add vanilla; refrigerate until needed.
When ready to serve:
- Make double strength coffee.
- Use a large glass; add coffee, one glass of milk, and 2 tbsps cocoa syrup.
- Server VERY COLD over generous serving of vanilla ice cream.
