1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg yolk, beaten
1/4 tsp salt
3 tbsps milk
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
1 oz chocolate, melted
2 1/4 cups flour
Preheat oven to 375 degrees
1. Cream shortening, gradually mix in sugar.
2. Add egg yolk, beat well.
3. Sift flour, baking powder, 1/4 tsp salt.
4. Add some of the dry ingredients alternating with milk and vanilla.
5. Mix well.
6. Divide dough in half.
7. Add melted cooled chocolate to one half the dough.
8. Roll out both half of dough on floured board.
9. Place chocolate dough over white dough.
10. Roll tightly and wrap in wax paper and chill overnight.
11. Slice very thin and place on ungreased cookie sheet.
12. Bake for 10 - 12 mins. Make sure to keep an eye on them as they will over brown easily.
