Part 1:
2 cups warm milk
2 tbsp melted butter
2 1/2 cups unbleached flour
1 tbsp yeast
1/2 cup warm water
1 tsp sugar
Part 2:
4 cups unbleached flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp salt
1 egg
1 cup seedless raisins
Topping:
2 tsp sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1. Disolve yeast and 1 tsp sugar in warm water. Allow to sit for 15 minutes so yeast activates.
2. Mix warm milk, butter, flour, and yeast mixture together.
3. Transfer to a large greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and allow to rise 1 hour at room temperature.
4. Punch down dough. In a mixing bowl combine the dough with 1/2 cup sugar, egg, salt, and raisins. Mix well.
5. Add 4 cups flour and knead 10 minutes. Add more flour if needed.
6. Divide into two loaves and place into 2 greased loaf pans.
7. Cover with a damp cloth and allow to rise until doubled, about 1 hour.
8. Heat oven to 350 degrees.
9. Mix together the sugar and cinnamon topping, and sprinkle over top of loaves.
10. Bake about 40-45 minutes. Remove from oven. Let sit 5 minutes, then place on a wire rack to cool.
