Recipes using McCormick Whole Cloves

4 lbs beef bottom round roast
2 cups white vinegar
Water
4 bay leaves
15 to 20 peppercorns
6 whole cloves
2 onions, sliced
1 tbsp brown sugar
2 tbsp flour
Salt & Pepper
- Place meat in bowl with vinegar and water to cover.
- Add bay leaves, peppercorns, cloves and onion.
- Let meat soak in refrigerator for 24 to 48 hours.
- Remove meat and reserve liquid.
- Brown meat in some butter in a large pot or Dutch oven; add 2 cups of the spiced vinegar and the onions.
- Cover and cook over low flame about 2 hours until tender.
- When meat is cooked, add sugar, salt and pepper to taste. Add 2 tbsp flour and mix well. Cook about 15 to 20 minutes. If necessary add more spiced vinegar for proper consistency.
- Serve with potato dumplings, mashed potato or potato pancakes.
