Recipe: Shrimp Gumbo
Recipes using Durkee Whole Thyme Leaves

- 4 tbsp flour
- 4 large minced onions
- 1 stick butter
- 5 cans chicken broth
- 1 cup minced celery
- 3 bay leaves
- 1 tbsp thyme leaves
- 2 pounds raw shrimp
- 2 tsp chopped garlic [about 4 cloves]
- 3 cups crabmeat
- 1 cup minced bell pepper
- Cooked Rice
- Brown 4 tablespoon of flour in dry skillet. Set aside.
- Saute 4 large minced onions in stick of butter.
- Add 2 tablespoons of brown flour and stir.
- Add 5 cans of hot chicken broth, 2 tsp chopped garlic, 1 cup minced bell pepper, 1 cup minced celery, 3 bay leaves, and 3 tablespoons thyme.
- Add salt and pepper to taste. Add any other seasonings as you wish.
- Lastly, add 2 more tablespoons of brown flour; stir and simmer 2 hours.
- Add 2 pounds raw shrimp and 3 cups cooked crabmeat.
- Simmer 30 minutes.
Serve over rice in a soup bowl. Serves 8 people.
