Recipe: Sour Cream Coffee Cake

Quantity 

• 1/2 cup butter or margarine
• 1 cup sugar
• 2 eggs
• 2 cups flour
• 1 tsp baking soda
• 1 tsp baking powder
• 1/2 tsp salt
• 1 cup sour cream
• 1 tsp pure vanilla extract

Topping

• 1/2 cup sugar
• 1/2 cup brown sugar
• 2 tsps ground cinnamon
• 1 cup nuts (optional)

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Grease a 9 inch pan.
3. Cream butter; add sugar and eggs 1 at a time, beating well.
4. Mix flour, salt, soda and baking powder.
5. Add dry ingredients alternately with sour cream; stir in vanilla.
6. Pour 1/2 of the batter into a greased 9 inch pan.
7. Mix together topping ingredients.
8. Add a layer of topping to batter in pan. (Reserve some topping for top of cake)
9. Pour remaining batter on topping.
10. Top batter with remaining topping mixture.
11. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes.
