1 cup quick rolled oats
2 cups boiling water
1/2 cup boiling water
1/2 cup molasses
1-1/2 tsp salt
1 tbsp white shortening or Crisco
1 pkg of yeast (about 1 tbsp)
1/2 cup lukewarm water
4-1/2 cup flour
Add oats to boiling water; cool. Soften yeast in 1/2 cup lukewarm water. Add yeast, molasses, shortening and salt. Stir in flour. Let rise for one hour. Beat thoroughly. Place in two greased bread pans. Let rise for 40 minutes. Bake at 400° F for one hour.
