1-1/3 cups canola oil
3 tsp liquid sweetener
1 tbsp vanilla (or maple) extract
1 tsp salt
1/2 cup wheat germ
1/3 cup pecans (or cashews)
7 cups rolled oats
In a large salad bowl blend oil, sweetener, vanilla and salt. Stir in wheat germ, nuts and rolled oats. Spread out mixture thinly on cookie sheets or pizza trays. Toast in broiler oven. Stir at 5 to 10 minute intervals until mostly browned. Serve as a dry cereal breakfast food with non-fat milk or milk or cream. Use powder type sweetener for additional flavor as desired. Makes approximately one pound of breakfast food.
