Recipe: Whole Wheat Batter Bread

Whole Wheat Batter Bread Ingredients
- 2 1/4 tsp dry yeast
- 1 1/4 cups warm water
- 2 tbsp honey, brown sugar or molasses
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 2 cups white flour
- 2 tsp sea salt
- 2 tbsp canola oil
To make Whole Wheat Batter Bread
- In mixer bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water, and let sit for 10 minutes.
- Add honey (or other sweetener), half of wheat and white flours, sea salt and canola oil. Beat for 2 minutes at medium speed.
- Blend in remaining flour until smooth. Scrape batter from sides of bowl.
- Cover with damp cloth and let rise in warm place until double in bulk, about 30 minutes. Stir down batter by mixing with a wooden spoon.
- Spread batter evenly in well greased loaf pan, 9x5x3. Cover, and let the Whole Wheat Batter Bread dough rise until batter is near top of pan, about 40 minutes.
- Whole Wheat Batter Bread is ready to bake when a dent remains when batter is touched by your finger.
- Bake at 375° for 45 to 50 minutes.
- When done, Whole Wheat Batter Bread will have brown crust and will sound hollow when tapped.
