Zatarain's Chick-Fri Crispy Southern Style makes preparing delicious Southern Style Fried Chicken easy to do. Plus, you can bake it, fry it or deep fry. All methods result in a flavorful meal.

Ingredients: Enriched Wheat Flour (Niacin, Reduced Iron Thiamine Mononitrate, Riboflavin, Folic Acid, Malted Barley, Flour, Salt, Black Pepper. Monosodium Glutamate, Sodium Aluminum Phosphate, Garlic, Baking Powder, Citric Acid, Lemon Juice, (Maltodextrin, Lemon, Citric Acid and Sugar). Allergy Information: Contains Wheat.

Southern Fried Chicken

1. FOR 3 pounds of bone-in chicken parts, mix 1/3 cup of Zatarain's Chick-Fri Southern Style with 1/2 cup water in a medium size bowl for dipping chicken. Pour 1/2 cup of mixed batter onto a plate or into a plastic bag for coating with additional Chick-Fri.
2. DIP chicken, one piece at a time, in batter. Shake off any excess batter.
3. ROLL or shake chicken in dry Chick-Fri until evenly coated. Discard any remaining batter or Chick-Fri mix.

NOTE: for a thicker crust, coat chicken in 1/2 cup of Zatarain's Chick-Fri Mix, Dip into 1/2 cup milk mixed with 1 lightly beaten egg. Roll again in Zatarain's Chick-Fri Mix.

Deep Frying Directions

HEAT oil in deep fryer to 350° F. Cook chicken 8 to 10 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through. Drain on paper towels.

Pan Frying Directions

POUR 1 inch of vegetable oil into a large skillet. Heat oil to 350° F on medium heat. Place chicken, skin side down, in skillet. Cover. Cook for 10 minutes, turning chicken after 5 minutes. Remove cover. Turn chicken and cook 10 minutes longer until golden brown and cooked through [internal temperature of 165° F.]. Drain on paper towels.

Baking Directions

DIP chicken in 1/2 cup milk mixed with 1 lightly beaten egg in a medium bowl. Shake off excess batter. Roll in a plate of dry Chick-Fri Mix. Arrange chicken on shallow baking pan sprayed with a non-stick spray. Spray top of chicken with cooking spray. Bake in a pre-heated 425° F oven 40 minutes or until cooked through, turning half-way through cook time.
