For tonight's Sunday dinner, I made salmon with melted margarine with lemon, dill, fresh crushed- garlic. On the side I bought a bag of frozen Bow tie pasta, with carrots and red pepper, spinach. Sprinkled parmesan cheese on it. It turned out really Good I had some white wine with it. Bonappetit! Cookie
For breakfast I made croissant breakfast panini for each of us with a ramiken of breakfast gravy to dip them into. Jon loved them. For dinner we have to go to his Moms. I think he said she was making something or other.
We had ground chicken taco's tonight for dinner. I made my own seasoning pkg.- chili pepper, salt, Onion, garlic powder, chopped fresh onion and diced tomatoes with chilli's (RO-TEL) with shredded cheese and sour cream on top. I made them last night. Cookie
Sounds good Cookie, I made tacos for lunch on Sunday and I always make my own seasoning too. I have everything I need so there is no need to buy a packet. I use Cumin, corriander, Paprika, cayenne pepper, Achiote and dried Mexican oregano. I also add minced garlic. It makes for delicious tacos yum!
Thanks, for telling me your ingredients. I have cumin and paprika. I don't have Mexican oregano. I have Italian seasoning. I just started doing this using my own blends of spices, that I usually buy poaches already mixed. I just bought some fresh garlic and using it in different dishes. I'm trying to eat better, it's a challenge. Thanks again, your taco's sound Good. Cookie
Cookie you won't go wrong using your own spice mix! Especially in Taco and Chili , the Cumin gives a real authentic Mexican taste to your recipe along with all the others you mentioned. I for years was dependent upon the store bought and just in the past few years really realized I did not need them Do not worry about the mexican oregano regular oregano will work fine if you decide to use it at all, it is not necessary for taco meat or chili, it is only if you want to add it. The real important things are the onion, garlic, cumin, chili powder and all the others you mentioned. Just enjoy having fun experimenting, I know you will
I agree Cathy, I almost always make my own spice blends, cajun, mexican, morrocan, chili powder etc and I'm never sorry I did. You are right regular oregano will work just fine. I use Mexican oregano just because I have it. I grew it last summer and dried it for the winter.
Made a pot roast w/ onions, taters & carrots and rich gravy on Sunday night, and reheated leftovers Monday night- then made a pot of beef barley soup tonight- which I'll freeze part of and will enjoy at least another night or 2 this week...
Last night I made a pan of baked pasta and some pizza hut style breadsticks with dipping sauce. Today I think Im going to roast a chicken I prepped last night and maybe roast some potatoes with herbs de provence and garlic. I have some pencil thin asparagus in the fridge I will probably make to go with dinner. Right now Im baking a loaf of roasted garlic french bread my brother asked for.

Am cooking for my family Friday night, and all I know for sure that'll be on the menu are my Dad's two dessert requests: Pineapple Upside-Down Cake and Butterscoth-Meringue Pie!
I made sirloin roast in the crockpot with beef broth, condensed french onion soup and beef consomme. I grated in several heads of garlic and some salt and pepper. Makes a great au jus for dipping. I like to use baby swiss on toasted sub buns for shredded beef sandwiches. I always put the broth in the fridge and let most of the fat come together. Then I strain it and then reheat it to dip sandwiches in.
I'm making a couple of homemade pan pizzas and also manicottis. I have the pizza dough rising and the pasta dough resting and waiting for the filling. Fot the maniccotti filling I'm just going to use Ricotta cheese, spinach and mozzarella. Of course I will have pepperoni with each.
