Doesn't Anybody Cook?

I had been posting on her site for a while but since Im not a momma I really didnt have alot in common with them.

Thats when I went looking and found this place. There were more than a few there who loved recipes but most threads related to kids and no one could really relate to me cause not many people are married to a blindman and has a twisted sense of humor

I know this is an old topic, but I wanted to make a suggestion ..

One thing I've learned with running a forum is that you have to keep it appropiately sized. There's alot of forums and sub forums here, and not a large enough member base to fill them up. I just counted 50 different forums and subforums on the main page.. And some of them could easily be merged together.. "How Do I..", "About Ingredients" and "Definitions" could be merged into "Cooking School". "What's for Dinner", "Recipe of the Week" and "Ingredient of the Week" would make great stickies for "Cooking Talk" but don't really require their own forums. Instead of having all the different recipe types of forums, merge "Main Dishes" and "Breads", "Appetizers" "Breakfast" "Cookies" "Desserts", etc, as subforums under "Share Recipes".. It'll really clean up your forum's front page, make things easier to find, and make the community feel smaller.

The problem is when you have them all spread out, it looks like there's alot of forums that aren't getting alot of posts.

i agree with what Lime said. being new here i obviously need to adjust a bit to the format of this place as compared to other boards that i'm more used to, and i've been poking around, have played with skins and layout options (once i figured out how to do it!) and i have to say, there is SO much here that i don't really know where to begin. so as a newcomer, that's what i see as being potentially intimidating/discouraging to potential new posters.

I had thought the same thing. I even have a hard time deciding where my posts should go sometimes because they fit in more than one area.

You all have a point, but I have never belonged to a forum except this one. And I love it, now the way I overcome all the stuff is check in for today's posts and search if I need something specific. Works for me!
