My Cookbook Order

Thank you KYH, and you know I am finally going to try and do a review with one of these when I get them and well we will see how that goes!

I only know I am mighty excited to learn more of these styles cooking. I just love the uses of the many herbs and spices in their dishes. As it is on my own I experiement with herbs and spices alot!

Cathy

I HAVE AN IDEA JG, WE NEED TO PUT A LITTLE PRESSURE ON THE PUBLISHERS OF THAT PARTICULAR COOKBOOK TO HAVE THEM ENLARGE THE PRINT OR AT THE VERY LEAST MAKE A LARGE PRINT EDITION AVAILABLE.

MAYBE THEY CHOOSE THE SMALLER PRINT TO KEEP DOWN ON PUBLISHING PRICES:confused: BUT WE ARE THE PURCHASING PUBLIC AND IF THEY WANT DECENT REVIEWS AND MORE FOLKS TO PURCHASE THEIR BOOK THEY WILL COMPLY! I WILL NOT HESITATE TO CONTACT THEM AND REQUEST BIGGER PRINT (WE COULD THROW IN A LITTLE EQUAL RIGHTS FOR VISUALLY IMPAIRED STATEMENT THAT MIGHT GET THEIR ATTENTION:)
LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK.

CATHY

You know what I looked through The Foods You Crave and I didnt see one recipe I would even want to try. Its all fancy little bites of food. Looks more like a book full of appetizers that any kind of meal. I compared it to the text in the other books I got in and the font is half the size and a much lighter print. Maybe they used that print on purpose lol.

Im so glad you found some great books to your liking and thanks so much for thinking of me. Those selections look wonderful.

Hi again JG,

I just got another idea, I went online to the Good Cook Book book club, and picked out my 4 books to join, but something went wrond on-line when I tried to submit mt order and register. So I logged out and am waiting to do it later. Now I have a question.....because you are a member can't you get a credit by recommending a friend? Maybe if I wait and the you let me know when to register under you you'll qualify for a free cook book or something? You know what I'm talking about. Because you really did recommend it to me and you should get the credit for it.

Let me know what you think...

Cathy

P.S. I am ordering

1) Great Country Inns of America Cook Book 4th edition
2) New Greek Cusine
3) Flavors of Morocco
4) Mediterranian Grilling

Don't these sound great! I love Middle Eastern Cusine!!! Have you ever had it? I used to visit this restaurant in Mobile, Alabama named the New Jerusalem Cafe, and they had the most awesome food- so beautifully flavored!

P.S.S. Well dog-gone it I went and checked my e-mails and there was a confirmation from GCBC that my order was received??? Oh well I just thought it errored off. Well I thought it would be fun for you to get credited with my membership, sorry I wasted your time.

Hi Again JG,

I like the fact that you let me know that cook book is a waste of time, and it sounded so interesting! Oh well. But hey it is good to have Connections:D

Thanks, Cathy

I was so disappointed when I finally got the time to look at it.
I wish I had ordered something else in its place now.

Most book clubs have a return policy, Janie. See if you can't return it. You'll have to pay the postage, but that's still cheaper than paying for a book you don't want.

Do any of you guys want it?
No charge or anything. I would be happy to pass it along.
Someone else on here may like it.

Thank you for offering JG, but I am not really that interested in it now, inless it was to do a bad review on it LOL. But you never know one of our other members may love finger foods! Remember the movie that Cher starred in w/ Wynonna Ryder as her daughter? The character Cher played as the Mom, all she ever fixed for meals were fancy little appetizers and finger foods; it was funny! She'd say "here's dinner kids" and here was a plate full of all these cutsie little things with fancy toothpicks and umbrellas sticking out of them LOL!

I never saw that film, Cathy. But she sounds like my kind of girl.

I'm a small bites fiend. I'd rather cater a buffet of small tastes for free than charge big bucks to do a sit-down dinner. Call 'em tapas, mezze, appetisers, starters, first courses, dim sum or anything else, an assortment of small tastes is my idea of culinary heaven.

I don't know about the umbrellas, though.

Janie, if nobody else wants it I'm sure your local library will be glad to accept it as a donation.

I know a little lady who is always going to the library and getting cookbooks to scan and save. Ill see if she wants it. She is a very health minded person so the recipes should be right to her taste.

When my little neighbor moved the other day she gave me a good cookbook.
Its called The Good Housekeeping Illustrated Cookbook. It is dated 1980.

JG, you inherited a terrific cookbook from the little neighbor lady. I love Betty Crockers Cook Book as well as the Good Housekeeping Illustrated! They are such classics.

Enjoy, Cathy

P.S. There is a thread here somewhere on cook books I do not know if you've seen it or not but pretty interesting.

I made sourdough once from a starter someone gave me about a year ago and it did not come out right. I am hoping this one does.

Its in the oven now. So far so good.
Looks good and smells really good.
I made sourdough french bread.

Ina is one of my FAVS! I like her mellow mood, her intuitive process, her fun hints & habits and just her general cooking style.

I'll be curious to hear what u think of the Deen Brothers' "Ya'll Come Eat Cookbook". I have friends who LOVE these boys and I'd like to buy copies for them for upcoming birthdays...
