as for moderating, thanks for the thought but no way.
the owner / administrator of this Forum has given up and gone away.

with no support, the situation is not likely going to improve.

as to "other" sites - if "you" do find "the perfect site" it's likely to have exactly one member - "you" - everything else is a compromise. if the half dozen "regulars" here can't find an acceptable home that is under control, oh well.....

there's no point to my further participation here, so to all I wish a healthy and happy future with a minimum of burnt pot bottoms!
 
And a hearty "Yay" will cover that one nicely!! Fair thee well, Oh Ship Of State and all us "plebians" will flounder along without assistance!! And just for the record, pal, look "plebian" up in your funky-Wagnells!! It means such things as ordinary or common......not unlike yourself! See, you're not the only one who can use a few well-placed $50 words! Amen!! :D

no one called you an ass - and of course the situation is not going to improve unless something is done that is beyond my "powers" for lack of a better word. There is no perfect site - and spammer can invade anything - face it. Even if I have a site with just me - I would probably get spammed - but I would do something about it. Having my hands tied does not help.

How the hell do you think I feel coming onto this site several times a day and having to deal with spammers? Do you think I like it?

Do as you please - good luck to you - and I think right now the only one here with a burnt bottom is you - or at least you think so.

Participation is welcomed - recipes, chat, hints, tips - just don't discuss the spammers - because it won't do an ounce of good. And that is when things get heated up around here.
 
I have no hard feeling towards anyone. I hate it when someone tries to talk to people using words they know this person or that one may not know just to make themselves feel bigger. A conversation between friends should not require a dictionary and thesaurus.

This is a really friendly and EASY place to be w/ the warmest folks on the web. Before anyone leaves for good- I advise them to simply depart for a day or 2 as a cooling-off period first- and then reconsider. Because if the drama and issues here are too big a burden- I can't imagine any finer comfort or friendliness being found elsewhere. We boast it all the time- and it's true; we've got a huge table here- we all have arms wide-open and we enjoy welcoming everyone. Take a chair there by the fan and grab yourself a tall glass of iced tea... cool off and calm down. Anyone will soon feel better being here after a dose of what the world throws their way. That's just my two cents... :)
 
I'd be the first one to admit that a couple of my "cheap shots" at Dilbert were out of line and quite ill-bred. But I was really ticked off by his "cheap shots" which were also uncalled for! But that's no excuse to sink to the same level! I apologize to one and all for my poor response to that...........
just don't pick on those I like and respect. "Talking down" to people is the provence of ignorant and insecure people!! Several others also rose to the occasion..... far better than I did - and with a great deal more class. My family rolled on the floor over the definition of ex-spert!! :)
 
and to think that all this has come to be because of something so damn stupid - spammers
that is why I said - ignore their posts, do not respond, I'll delete, and if I miss any - just let me know and I will get it
