Your FAV new cookbook so far this year?

Cool Cath- thanks for the recommendation! I can't order any until my next pay-day, or even further down the road, but since all 5 are available for LOW used prices, I may just get them all! They look like larger, lovely books- loaded w/ gorgeous photos!

Janie- it'll be fun to get them maybe around the s ame time you do so we can compare notes! :)

Cookbook Review of Brook's:

A Dear Friend who’s knees-deep in food projects all over warns about “The Frugal Foodie Cookbook”. KYHeirloomer calls it: “A totally exploitive "cookbook" that takes Jeff Smith's wonderful concepts and aborts them in every way possible. It's officially out this month, and my review will be at cheftalk in October---a review where it's totally panned.”

Thanks for letting us in on this review! Won't waste any time or $$$ on that one!

They all look great, janie- let us know, okay?

I can't afford any for another pay-chack or two 'cause I've got other things callin' for $, but I look forward to ordering another used book just as soon as I'm able!

I got the Brass Sisters book in the mail today. Not what I expected. It is a very eclectic collection of recipes. There are more recipes that I probably wont try than ones I will in the book. I am still waiting on the Rachael Ray book and the Diner recipes book. They should be about any day.

Got the RR Comfort Food book today. Small book but packed with some delish family recipes. Great soup recipes for this awful weather.

I got mine for .25 from Amazon used but the book is like new. Shipping was $3.99 so total for the book was $4.24

I think this book is mostly her family recipes before she started tweaking all of them trying to get more and more recipes to print. I have her book Just in Time and I dont care for it near as much as I do this one.

Well Cathy- you were right!

I received my used copy of "Two Meatballs in the Italian Kitchen" today...

...and let me tell you- my first impressions are great! It may very well be the most satisying cookbook I've obtained all year! It was a like-new volume purchased used for just 4 bucks (original price $35.00) and it's a thick, beefy volume chock-full of stunning photography and loads of recipes and personal dialogue/conversations.

The cookbook takes a similar approach as Julia & Jacques' book where they offer their own individual renditions of classic dishes- each letting their personal flair shine through.

But in this book there's a lot of bantering, insulting, and even name-calling that goes on between Tuscan born chef Pino Luongo and Queens born/bred Mark Straussman.

So far I've only thumbed through and read the first 30 pages- but it looks like a winner!
