Hi everyone

I am a widower and live alone. Bear with me here, I'll do my best to describe what I'm looking for.

Years ago I had a book that showed you how to make basic spice packs for meals. The author would make up a batch of spices that would be used in different meals and put them in baggies to be used as needed. In other words instead of getting out all your spices every time for every meal you would just grab a bag of pre-mixed spices and use them. But the basic spice mixes would be used for different meals depending on what the spices were mixed with.

For example: You would add a spice pack to tomato sauce for spaghetti or add the pack to something different for a topping for meatloaf. They were basic spice mixes that could be used for just about everything depending on what spices were used.

Sorry if I totally confused everyone but any help would be appreciated.

Al

I gave up on limited outdated books a long time ago and just use the ever changing Internet and Discussion Boards like this for all my recipes and homemade condiments and mixes.

For example: food gifts from your kitchen recipes | seasoning mix recipes, page 1

Welcome to Spice Place Al!

The book you describe doesn't sound familiar to me, but I'll do some googling and check at Amazon and see what turns up!

I'm Kevin...

does this look 'right?'

Encyclopedia of Herbs, Spices, and Flavorings by Elisabeth Lambert Ortiz (Used, New, Out-of-Print) - Alibris

that site has a lot of interesting stuff - it's my 'go to' resource for books "not current"
