I got a pretty sweet basil and oregano plant yesterday for $3.50 each at the Hardware store. I potted them a put them on the balcony.

I'm terrible... every pay-check for weeks has been practically spent before I got it, and I haven't had much disposable income. So, I am just now getting enuf extra bucks to spend on my l'il patio garden.

In addition to a few herbs and 'maters, any suggestions on a few different flowers that'll do well this late, and stay bloomed pretty much all summer? I'm thinking marigolds- what else?

pansies are sooooo pretty!! however, you must remove the blossems as they fade or they will quite blooming. if you do it faithfully, they will be pretty all summer.

also nasturtiums will go and go. probably early enough to plant seeds?? check out the different colors--hummingbirds love the red ones here. also good on your salads!

I have a hanging basket with ivy geraniums and lobelia.

good luck and have fun playing in the dirt,
Nan
