attending?

Today we wound up driving over to Alabama and we visited the Little River Canyon Waterfalls, DeSoto State Park & the DeSoto Falls and then traveled over to Fort Payne AL, home place of the band "Alabama" for a late lunch. We had a fantastic Day and the kids were so happy that Grandma took a day off just so I could spend it with them!

Tomorrow one of the local churches is having a Fall Festival we will be attending, and then Sunday we are driving up to Ellijay, GA for a wonderful day at Hillcrest Apple Orchards! There are activities there that include a pig race, cow milking, hay rides and best yet apple picking! Here's a link to their web-site check this out for a smile! They even have a Moonshine Museum:D

Welcome to Hillcrest Orchards! Located in Ellijay, Georgia

When we get home that evening we are going to make the biggest Apple Crisp ever, I can't wait!!!

We have not reached peak season yet for our fall leaves, in a few weeks though we should be there then we'll head for them thar hills for a nice colorful car ride, and maybe a hike thru the country side!

Looks like you've got a great weekend planned Cathy. And you'll be in my neck of the woods too. Hope you and the family have a great time. You should have great weather on Sunday :)

Neat, Cath!

In our area we had the Clinton Apple & Pork Festival a couple weeks back. Soon will be the Morton Pumpkin Festival. Then, the Spoon River Drive Arts & Crafts Fair and then St. Charles Scarecrow Festival! All w/ fun, games, handmade crafts and antiques, interesting Fall happenings and of course- YUMMY GRUB! :)

And currently my little town is having their annual "Cemetery Walk" whereby actors in period costume stand by their character's specific tombstone in our historic Evergreen Cemetery and speak that character's personal bio, highlighting interesting historic facts about that person. There have been friends of presidents, governors, escaped slaves, particpants in the Underground Railroad, and other notables. It's quite fun!
