Hi

I am looking for a specific utensil that my grandmother gave me years ago. She used when making spaghetti sauce. It is is made of iron and it sits directly on the stove top and then you place you pot on top of it. She said it helped to keep her sauce from burning, as she cooked it for hours. I use this item all the time. I am trying to find one for my daughter and her husband as they would like to have one too, however I do not know what it is called. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Morty

I think that it was, however I don't seem to be able to locate one so it must have a more specific name. Thanks for your input, greatly appreciated!

flame tamer is the generic name - multiple styles / types available - altho I prefer the solid disk type vs. perforated metal sheets . . .

trivets can be found in most places - I got several different styles - and they are great for placing your pot of sauce on - just remember there are different types of trivets - some are for stove use to be put over the flame which is what you want and some trivets are for the table to place hot casseroles/baking dishes on

you can find them in most department stores - and make sure it for stove use
