What's for dinner?

I end up buying the salad mixes at the wholesale club at times too. The big bags. I regret it though because even with a family of 5 it goes bad a few days after it is open and taste very chemically.
I keep thinking about getting those green bags. I have heard from many people that they actually work very well.

Hey IC here is a trick for you. If you put a paper towel in with your greens it will soak up the excess moisture and keep them good longer but if that still doesn't work for you try getting spinach instead of spring greens this way you have more ways to use it up. It could be a salad, or a side dish when sauteed, you can throw it into omletes or pasta on a pizza, it's endlessly useful.

I have never heard of a paper towel in a bag of greens before but the obvious always makes sense, lol. Thank you for the tip. I'm not a big fan for to much spinach. I like it fresh mixed with other greens in a salad or I use the frozen for cheese mixes or for fillings. I had to eat the slimy canned stuff as a kid and always wondered how Popeye did it. Fresh is always better.

When ever I wash herbs or leaf lettuce from the garden I use my spinner to spin out the water and then wrap them in a paper towel. Then I store them in a ziploc bag in the fridge.

I rinse my salad (greens) then use my strainer to get the water out, then I put it into a Big Bowl and cover with plastic wrap. Cookie :)

I watched an Elton Brown Episode where he had took a whole load of greens, put them in a pillow case, tied it closed and then used the spin cycle of the wash machine to remove the excess water.

I made some buttermilk cornbread with fresh chives in it a friend gave me last night.
Jon is having porkchops and I am making chocolate custard pie for him today. I'm still working on all of the spring mix salad I bought at Sams saturday lol.

We are still working on our left over lamb. I figure we have about two days of it left. Today I’m going to make a Greek gyro style salad for dinner. Lettuce, green peppers, red onions, grape tomatoes, sliced cucumbers, pepperoncini and kalamata olives with feta and a dill, garlic, yogurt dressing then put lamb slices on top. It sounds good to me.

I made some home made hotdog sauce tonight. I have a batch of dough in the bread machine to make some hotdog buns with. Tomorrow I thought we might have some hotdogs and maybe fries.

Weds. 04/15 TAX-DAY!

I'm going to a cook-out at my sister's tonight. Her hubby will grill pork & pineapple kabobs, while she is making a cheesy-potato dish w/ shredded hash browns we all enjoy. My Dad's wife is bringing rhubarb crumble. My contribution will be skewers of bacon-wrapped shrimp and broccoli/bacon/cashew salad.

We will be eating the last of the lamb tonight. I'm going to make Gyros with a side of lemony asparagus soup. DH is in heaven. He loves lamb done Greek style but doesn't really like it done any other way. He will actually be sorry when it's gone.

I like your Split Pea soup recipe Cookie. I make mine just about the same way with an addition of either ham, bacon and a bit of half and half.

I made some regular bread dough yesterday. I then cut several pieces, stretched them into a pizza shape and stuffed them with left over ham slices and left over au gratin potatoes. Rolled and sealed like a Calzone. They were so good when I took them out of the oven.

I had a slice of veggie pizza (Tombstone) and a McDonald's vanilla ice-Cream cone for dinner.

I.C. your regular bread dough sounds Good! Cookie :)
