I don't care if our next president is plaid with one eye in his/her forehead and has 4 arms and 16 legs - I just want someone in office that is for the people for a change! Stop catering to everyone else and think about the Americans that have lived and worked and paid their dues!

I wonder if there is such a thing as a president who is for the people anymore.

Y'all remember when public service was considered an honor, and attracted top rate people.

Now what do we get? Does anybody here really believe that Clinton, Obama, and McCain are the best we can do? Gimme a break.

There's no doubt. This year, in particular, if "none of the above is acceptible" was on the ballot he would win hands down.

There are some things should be kept in perspective before everyone jumps ship.

Last year, the US economy grew the size of the entire Chinese economy. That means if you took our economy from that year and subtracted all but the actual growth, it would be the size of China's entire economy.

There are still the same amount of manufacturing jobs in the United States as there ever has been. The amount of those jobs has not grown, but productivity has has expanded 16 fold since the 1950's.

The U.S. has enjoyed the lowest energy costs in the world per capita and still does. Oil prices are not just increasing in the U.S., they are increasing everywhere. There are legitimate food crisis's in many other countries and that list is growing.

Home ownership is at an all time high.

Unemployment over the last 5 years is at an all time low.

The world economy has done nothing but benefit everyone who participates.

The illegal immigration issue would be solved if those who hired illegals faced jail time. It would demagnetize the country.

As other countries come online, I think you will find illegal immigration becoming less of an issue. With NAFTA, many companies have been expanding into Mexico and many more will flood there if ever corruption can be taken care of there. With the plethora of jobs opening there, many will choose not to cross the borders illegally but heck, just stay home and get a job.

After a while, we will all scream that all the jobs are going to Mexico until Mexicans become aware of the term labor union and raise the prices on production.

I guess what I am saying is, the economy is cyclical. There were land barons, railroad barons, etc., before any of us were born and everyone thought they would run the world in "a few years".. It is old Marxist dogma that really never comes to fruition in a capitalist society.

Well spoken Jafo, I see many problems here in the U.S., but also many positives. I still think this to be a great nation even with all it's problems. Every country has their share of problems, we are no exception and I must whole heartedly say I love America!
