* Yeast goes first, so it'll remain on the top of the ingredient when the bag is dumped into the bread machine.
When you need to make the bread, simply put 2 tablespoons of oil with 1-1/8cup water into the machine, then dump your mix on top. Bake according tomachine instructions.
make up a dozen of these at a time. They cost about 35 cents eachas opposed to 2 or 3 dollars each in the store. They're also easy to addherbs and seasoning to if a savory bread is needed.
Combine all ingredients in a large bowl. Stir together to distribute evenly. Label and package in six(2 1/4 cup) containers, if using a 1-pound-loaf breadmaker, or in four(3-1/3 cup) containers for larger capacity breadmakers. Store in a cool, dry place. Use with 6 months. Makes about 14 cups.
To make small loaf: 1-1/2 tsp active dry yeast; 2 1/4 cups breadmaker mix; 1tbsp butter or vegetable oil; 3/4 cup warm water. To make large loaf: 2 tsps active dry yeast; 3 1/3 cups breadmaker mix; 1 1/2 tbsp butter or vegetable oil;1 1/4 cup warm water. Mix and bake on light setting, following manufacturer's instructions,
Variations:
Cinammon raisin: to the basic recipe, add 1/2 cup raisins and 1 1/2 tsps ground cinnamon. Glaze with powdered sugar glaze, if desired, while still warm.
French bread: eliminate butter or vegetable oil. Sweet Bread: Add 1 tbsp. sugar with dry ingredients. Break one egg into measuring cup, fill cup with water to amount called for in recipe.
